This Privacy Policy describes how Snap & Simmer ("we", "our", or "the App") handles your information when you use our mobile application on iOS and Android.
1. Privacy-First & On-Device Processing
Snap & Simmer is built with a privacy-first architecture:
- Camera & Image Analysis: The App uses your camera to scan pantry items, food barcodes, and ingredients. All vision recognition and barcode scanning are performed on-device (utilizing Apple Vision / Intelligence on iOS and Google ML Kit on Android). Your photos and camera feeds are never uploaded to external servers or stored in the cloud.
- Smart Recipe Generation: Cooking suggestions and recipe pairing are processed locally on your device whenever possible. No personal dietary profiles are shared with or sold to third parties.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect personally identifiable information (such as your full name, home address, or phone number).
- We do not sell, rent, or monetize your data.
- We do not track your activity across third-party apps and websites for advertising purposes.
3. Device Permissions Used
- Camera: Required to scan barcodes on food packaging and take ingredient snapshots to suggest recipes. Camera access is strictly active only while using the scanner.
- Notifications (Optional): If enabled, used solely for local cooking timers and meal plan reminders.
4. Data Storage
All your saved kitchen inventory, favorite recipes, and meal plans are stored locally on your device (using on-device secure app storage). If you uninstall the application, this locally stored data is removed unless backed up via your operating system's standard device backup (such as Apple iCloud or Google Drive device backup).
5. Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
